Starting out learning WordPress and Elementor at the same time can be overwhelming. Spending money on a web host before you even know how to use the software is probably throwing money out the window. There is a free alternative to learning WordPress and Elementor at the same time on your computer without spending a dime.
This is where local web hosting and creating an environment on your computer to host WordPress and Elementor can help in the learning process. Whether you have Windows or macOS, you can download local development software that will create an environment on your computer to host WordPress for free.
Here is a list of software that can help you create an environment for WordPress. They work for both Mac and Windows.
LocalWPMamp and MamaProXamppDesktopServer
New kid on the block is DevKinsta from the web hosting company Kinsta. I have used LocalWP for several years. Just know that you will have to use either one of them, but know that DevKinsta will not install properly with LocalWP already installed – seems they don’t play well together. So I can’t give you a review of DevKinsta.
When I first got started using WordPress, I was using Mamp and then I graduated to MampPro. Then when LocalWP came along, I switched to it and I’m still using it. I can only recommend LocalWP at this time since it works the best and is the easiest for beginners. You do not need a Flywheel hosting account to use it – Period!
